Contour cutting is the precise cutting of complex shapes and geometries using digitally controlled band saws and cutting systems. In contrast to straight separating cuts, contour cutting enables individual profiles, curves, and free-form shapes to be cut in wood, PU foam, rock wool, insulation materials, and technical plastics. At WINTERSTEIGER, contour cutting solutions are provided under the HEMA (Heermann Maschinenbau GmbH) brand.

Roundwood cutting is the processing of logs to create cut wood such as boards, squared timbers, or planks. WINTERSTEIGER provides roundwood cutting solutions under the SERRA Maschinenbau brand with mobile sawmills (e.g., KE 90) and stationary sawmills (e.g., XE 160) for trunk diameters of up to 160 cm/63 inches. Our sawmills are currently in use in over 80 countries around the world.

The DSB (thin-cutting band saw) is suitable for wet and dry cutting, very fast product changes, and high capacity output with softwood. The DSG (thin-cutting frame saw) works with multiple parallel saw blades at the same time, making it ideal for dry cutting, hardwood, and tropical wood with cutting heights up to 266 mm. Both technologies achieve identical results in terms of kerf and surface quality, so question of which is the more cost-effective depends on the application.

Thin-cutting technology from WINTERSTEIGER enables precise cutting for industrial lamella production with minimal kerf and maximum material yield. Developed to produce ready-to-glue surfaces immediately after cutting (without any additional processing steps), it is used around the world in the flooring, furniture, board, panel, and lightweight construction industry.
